A LISA SEMILLÓN
The Bodega Noemia de Patagonia project was born from the search for old Malbec vineyards, which were planted in 1930 somewhere in the Río Negro Valley.
Partners in this project, the Italian wine producer Countess Noemí Marone Cinzano and the Danish winemaker Hans Vinding Diers, found the perfect place and an ideal microclimate for the growth of the grapes. The magnificent Rio Negro, influenced by two rivers derived from the Andes, the Río Neuquén and the Limay, had been discovered in 1828 by British colonies who made canals to irrigate the valley and thus create an oasis in the middle of the desert.
The Rio Negro Valley is since then known for its excellent production of pears and apples. In the early 1900s, immigrants planted the first varieties, which were mainly French.
